Your children's ages and names (if you feel comfortable) Adam
(8.5), Sara (4.75), Rebeka (6 months)
How many years you have
homeschooled This is my 4th year homeschooling, although
we were very relaxed about schooling during the first 2
years when we were doing Kindergarten.
What you love
about homeschooling:
I love the freedom to teach my children
what
they are most interested and the opportunity to use life-experiences
as teaching opportunities. I also appreciate the student to
teacher ratio in our classroom! :) I know my children
get a lot more individualized instruction than any child in a classroom,
no matter how "good" the school.
What you hate about homeschooling It
can be disrupted by life. Things like having a baby or moving
can take up so much of my (the teacher's) time and attention that
school must at times get put on hold. I suppose this wouldn't
be a problem if I were just transporting my children to and from school
every day.
Do you have a business or interest you delve in on
the side? I sell Usborne educational books.
Your
pet's name or most interesting animal you have ever owned? I
have two cats, Ross & Jessica. The most interesting
animal I ever "owned" was a pet turtle.
Your favorite color
I've never been able to decide. I like many colors.
How
would you describe your homeschool style? Shifting...
I use quite a bit of traditional-classroom materials, such as A Beka
workbooks, however we also do a lot of reading together and I'd like
to start doing more unit studies and notebooking. I envision
a general, though probably gradual, shift away from the workbooks
as we spend more of our time on deeper unit studies.
Schedules
- thumbs up or thumbs down? I've yet to find a schedule
that isn't stressful. :)
